Hazardous Ingredients: None as a finished product

Type of Material: Polyvinylchloride - Unplasticised (PVC-U)

HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION 

Nature of hazard: There are no health risks from ScaffGap during normal use. ScaffGap may contain various pigments, colours and stabilisers that may be toxic. These chemicals are, however, bound within the product material and are not easily extracted. Can contain sharp edges when cut.

FIRST-AID MEASURES 

Eye Contact: Plastic materials may cause physical irritation in the eyes. Wash out with large amounts of water. If irritation persists, seek medical advice.

Skin Contact: ScaffGap can contain sharp edges when cut. Wear gloves when handling.

Inhilation: Not Applicable

Ingestion: Not Applicable

FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES 

Extinguishing Media: On small fires use any hand-held extinguisher type. On large fires use water. Fire and Explosion Hazards: Melting plastics may flow and spread in a large fire. The product of a fire involving ScaffGap will be thick black toxic smoke.

Material Characteristics: ScaffGap will burn with a slow spread of flame.

Protective Equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing.

 

ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES 

Not Applicable

HANDLING AND STORAGE 

Handling: ScaffGap can contain sharp edges when cut. Gloves must be worn when handling. Where ScaffGap needs to be cut, filed etc, dusts may be created. Avoid inhaling these dusts. Storage: ScaffGap should be stored away from sources of heat and direct sunlight.

EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION 

Respiratory Protection: Not required under normal circumstances of use. Where cutting creates dusts, wear a mask to the standard FFP2S.

Hand Protection: Wear impervious strong gloves to prevent cuts to the hand when cutting.

Eye Protection: Wear safety glasses when cutting and installing.

Skin Protection: Wear overalls.

STABILITY AND REACTIVITY 

Decomposition Products: PVC-U may produce amounts of Formaldehyde and Acrolein. Stability: This material is stable up to and including normal operating limits (moulding perameters)

Biodegradability: Not readily biodegradable but ar not detremental to terrestrial wildlife.

Aquatic Toxicity: Non-toxic to marine life.

 

DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS 

Method: The preferred method is collection and recycling. Plastics can safely be placed with regular industrial or household wastes where recycling is not available.
